Hello Everyone,
This is my first trail report submission so go easy on me.

In attendance on this run were Ronnie Rasmussen in his Red Bus, Jerry Stewart with Tom Hansen riding shotgun in his WR R WE rig(I call it the creamsicle-50/50 bar

) and Me, Pete Acosta with my mother in-law Renee riding shotgun in my DRT WHLZ. We started out from our usual north meeting point of the Chevron off the Carefree hwy(74). Left there around 9am and made our way up to the New River run. It was a very scenic and beautiful morning, 98% of the the trail was 2wd. The river was definately flowing much lighter than back in January when we pointed in that direction for that month's run. The rains had widened the stream to 50'+ roaring rapids. So, this run went totally smooth until Ronnie and I swapped rigs and unfortunately mine didn't like him....

. I was running in the Red Bus when he disappeared of the rear mirror map. So I squawked at him on the Cb and couldn't get him. Crappy location that I mounted the antenna. When I turned back to see where he was I found him standing on the trail with his hands in his pockets. He was looking over the ridge, my heart dropped

... but I knew Ronnie had more wheelin' skills than that.

My rig was down slightly further on the trail with a busted front passenger leaf hanger. The Tire was rubbing from the axle shifting forward. So out came the come-along and tools and we were able to put the axle back in the correct location. I would have still been out ther if it wasn't for Jerry and Ronnie having chains and couplers to help me anchor the it from moving front or rear. Tom was there to also assist and be our cheerleader

. Renee picked up a book and caught up on some reading while we took 30 minutes to get my rig back on the trail. That was the only trail fix on the trip. We stopped at the big rocks along the way and posted up there for lunch. After that, we headed over to Seven Springs. A very cool old state park. Unfortunately it had been flooded a few years back and was basically shut down from vehicle passage to the other side of the stream. So we got out and strolled through. I learned a couple new things about the area. Like how FDR had sent young single men to this location after the deppression to give them work and help develop the area. I think the group was called the CCC, Jerry was familiar with the area. The last exciting thing we did before leaving was have a debate on what material this big blue drain pipe was made out of. Tom, sorry- it WAS plastic.

( sorry-you had to be there-LOL) We Then headed on and were finished with the trail around 4pm. On the way back, we had talked about stopping somewhere for a bite on the way home. Renee had a great idea of stopping by Greasewood Flats in the Cave Creek area. As we walked up we noticed Joe Lopez's "Grinch" green scout that was parked outside. So we found him inside, sat and enjoyed some good grub and funny country music. Ther were some really cool antiques around like wagons, machining tools and a great old International Farmall B tractor out there. So after all the great fun, we headed home, and went our seperate ways at Pinnacle Peak. Joe and I live in the same direction so he followed me back to play it safe. Looking forward to doing this again, we had a great time!!! PA
